Minto council paid over $189,000 for municipal roles

MINTO – Council here was paid a total of over $189,000 in salaries and expenses in 2024 – up $8,000 from 2023, according to a remuneration statement by town treasurer Gordon Duff.Ìý

The treasurer is required under the Municipal Act to provide the annual statement to council.Ìý

Mayor Dave Turton was paid $39,303, with $900 in mileage claims.Ìý

Deputy Mayor Jean Anderson was paid $22,974, with a beginning salary of $21,735.

The other council members were paid a salary of $20,659. After adding benefits, conferences and milage their income totals were:

  • Judy Dirksen, $23,201;
  • Ron Elliott, $30,930;
  • Geoff Gunson, $25,816;
  • Ed Podniewicz, $22,170; and
  • Paul Zimmerman, $25,096.

The net tax-supported council expense for the fiscal year 2024 was $173,347 with a budgeted amount of $206,700.Ìý

In 2023, a total of $181,256 was paid to Minto council which was an increase of eight per cent over 2022, when the total was $167,601.Ìý

Turton earned $32,736 in 2023 with a salary of $30,676 and $2,048 in expenses.Ìý
