HALTON HILLS – A Halton Hills councillor has been nominated as the Ontario Liberal candidate for Wellington-Halton Hills.
The riding association announced Alex Hilson is the Liberal candidate in the next provincial election.
“Alex Hilson’s dedication to serving his community as a local councillor and his commitment to delivering real results make him the leader Wellington-Halton Hills needs,” stated Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie in a press release.
Hilson said health care, affordable housing and a difficult landscape for businesses are the top priorities for Ontarians.
“I’m excited to work … to fix these problems, invest in people, and create a community where everyone can thrive,” he said.
Campaign officials say Hilson, a lifelong resident of Halton Hills, has spent over a decade serving his community through roles including:
- founding Inspire Halton, a non-profit empowering youth through the arts;
- president of the Optimist Club of Halton Hills; and
- coordinator of the Downtown Acton BIA.
Hilton is a graduate of the University of London, England (BA in philosophy and religious studies).
Officials say he is an advocate for education, equity and innovation, contributing to numerous community initiatives.
