Fergus Grand Theatre offers theatre technician training in September

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Fergus Grand Theatre is offering theatre technician training in a 12-week course format starting in September.

This course, geared towards ages 16+, will provide the knowledge and skills required to become approved technicians at the Fergus Grand Theatre – no prior experience necessary.Ìý

The first half of the course will cover the theoretical aspects of the role, while the second half will be primarily hands-on skills training. Evaluation is pass/fail based on attendance, weekly quizzes, and a short written exam. Topics include safety, lighting, sound, projectors, scenic elements, stage management,Ìý and industry best practices. Upon completion of this course and the required safety certifications, students may begin working as an apprentice with current technicians and eventually become an approved technician themselves.

The course runs Tuesdays from 7 to 9pmÌý from Sept. 9 to Dec. 2 at the theatre at 244 St Andrew St W. Training cost $339. For more information visit .
