This is an interesting long weekend. Valentine鈥檚 Day and Family Day. One thing leads to another, if you catch my drift. What? I鈥檓 just pointing out the obvious.聽
WriteOut of Her Mind
Eagles
I keep hearing the Steve Miller Band song, Fly Like An Eagle, in my head.聽
Pedestrian
This week I learned that it is impossible to make the universal angry hand gesture, the one-finger salute (you know the one), when you鈥檙e wearing mittens.
Tired
鈥淵ou look tired,鈥 she said.聽
Jinx
I鈥檓 superstitious. I really am.聽
Art
I was only trying to help; I just happened to marry a man who does not want my help at the times when I genuinely feel I would be most helpful to him. That鈥檚 what makes our life together so much fun. Ask him, he鈥檒l tell you.聽
2025
Here we are again: a new year upon us and an uncertain world to navigate.聽
Cookies
This Christmas, the gift that I鈥檓 most grateful for was not one wrapped and placed under the tree. Things didn鈥檛 make this holiday special for me; friends did. Kindness and inclusion are the acts that I will remember.
Snow pants
Dear Santa, I think we need to talk about what happened last Christmas. As you know, there was no Toyota 4Runner in my driveway on Christmas morning. I thought we had an understanding?聽
Fat chance
There is a quote attributed to Mahatma Gandhi: 鈥淚f you don鈥檛 ask, you don鈥檛 get it.鈥 I鈥檓 not sure that was Gandhi鈥檚 exact wording, and I鈥檓 not sure he would appreciate my use of the phrase, but I thought I鈥檇 test this theory out with my spouse this Christmas.聽
Wipeout
I am so glad you weren鈥檛 here to see this. I鈥檓 glad nobody saw it.聽
Swiftie
I didn鈥檛 attend the Taylor Swift concert in Toronto. It wasn鈥檛 in the budget.
Townie
The Carpenter and I are about to be townies again. We鈥檙e packing up our life on the farm, we鈥檝e re-homed all our feathered friends (honestly the hardest part of all), and we鈥檙e moving back to the town where we first landed in 色控传媒County 23 years ago.
November
It could have been any day of the week, but the fact it was a Sunday morning felt like poetic…
Ushered in
I owe you an end to my story of how I met my Carpenter. I鈥檓 grateful to those of you that have read along these past two weeks. The feedback has been fun. So let me close this chapter for you.
